Proverbs 7 

“My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.” Proverbs‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭

The urge to walk our own course often makes God’s commandments feel restrictive, yet today’s verses show these commands as the "apple of your eye" reveals their true design they are protective, and essential for life and living. The pupil of the eye is reflexively guarded against harm because losing it means walking in darkness. In the same way, storing God’s instructions deep within our hearts is not  about memorizing rules for a quiz; it is about building an internal compass that instinctively flinches away from danger. 

When we actively treasure these divine warnings, we don't just hear wisdom—we anchor ourselves in it, allowing His truth to filter how we see every choice, relationship, and temptation that crosses our path.
Choosing to act on those warnings is what ultimately separates true discernment from mere good intentions. Those who internalize godliness and abandon the subtle traps of moral foolishness discover a life that isn't just longer in years, but vastly richer in quality, peace, and freedom from unnecessary self-inflicted pain.
